A day before staging its annual meeting in downtown Victoria, TD Bank spread some green around the Capital Regional District.

Canada's second-largest bank announced a $250,000 donation to enhance and promote the Galloping Goose and Lochside regional trails as key tourism travel corridors.

CEO Ed Clark and the TD Bank Group board of directors will address shareholders this morning at 9: 30 at the Victoria Conference Centre. It will be webcast in video and audio live on the Internet via www.td.com/investor.

The bank said Wednesday it shares a vision with the CRD of promoting sustainable tourism and increasing use of the popular regional trail systems by 20 to 30 per cent. More than 2.5 million people already use the trails each year, according to the CRD.

The $250,000 donation will be spread over three years to build up to 10 information and rest stations along the Galloping Goose and Lochside trails. The money will also help enhance the CRD's education and awareness programs through the Trail Ambassador Program.
